TCP/IP
- How does the Internet work?
- You can look at this question on several levels.
- TCP/IP (Transfer Control Protcol and Internet Protocol) is
the way the Internet works.
- Information is broken up into packets, given addresses to
be sent to and passed to other machines.
- These other machines include routers and they pass the
information to the appropriate place.
- It is like the Royal Mail service, but it's a lot faster.
- TCP/IP is not what TV broadcast, TV cable or the telephone use.
