Categorisation with SOMs

• So how would you learn to categorise with SOMs?
• You'd learn a SOM for each category.
• You'd combine them once learning is done.
• You'd put your new data item in.
• You'd find the nearest node and return its type.
• You could of course look at the neighborhood and do some voting.
