Lab 23: Distribution

• On your own, list five extranets.
• In groups of five, design a website for a new online newspaper (five minutes).
• How would the design process have changed if you had designed over the Internet?
• What tools would you have used?
• Data cleansing and alignment: One of the problems with distribution is records that are the same but don't look the same. An example is names. On your own, write out 5 names (e.g. John Smith), then for each come up with 4 variants. Can you come up with an algorithm that aligns these?
• Amazon is major player in Cloud Computing (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud). Why?
• Describe an (web-based) information system that could take advantage of this web service.
• How would you implement that system?
