  1. Use logic as a symbolic representation technique and use variations of standard logic such as fuzzy logic and statistics
  2. Hierarchically decompose and combine symbolic knowledge
  3. Apply techniques for searching the space, such as rule application, and heuristic search
  4. Apply sub-symbolic representation techniques including neural networks
  5. Apply learning mechanisms
  6. Analyse solutions to critically evaluate their effectiveness
  7. Represent problems in terms of a space of states
  8. Analyse problems into state spaces
  9. Apply appropriate techniques to solve problems in a state space
